Detailed Explanation of Metrics

The expired domains sold at our shop are evaluated based on various metrics. Below is a detailed explanation of each metric.

CY (Creation Year)

CY represents the year the domain was created. The older the domain, the longer it has been in operation, which generally indicates higher reliability. Older domains are often considered more valuable in SEO.

DA / PA / SS (MOZ Metrics)

DA (Domain Authority)

DA stands for Domain Authority, a metric provided by MOZ that measures the overall authority of a domain. It is calculated based on various factors, including the number and quality of backlinks, and is scored on a scale from 1 to 100. A higher DA indicates a stronger domain authority, which can lead to better SEO performance.

PA (Page Authority)

PA stands for Page Authority, another metric provided by MOZ that measures the authority of individual pages on a domain. Like DA, PA is scored on a scale from 1 to 100, with higher scores indicating stronger page authority. PA is influenced by the number and quality of links pointing to the specific page.

SS (Spam Score)

This is a metric provided by MOZ to assess the spam risk of a domain. In 2023, MOZ significantly revised the calculation method for this score, enabling more comprehensive and detailed evaluations. Previously, the score ranged from 0 to 17, but it is now expressed on a scale from 0 to 100, allowing for a more precise assessment of a domain’s potential spam risk.

The criteria used to determine the spam score have also been greatly expanded, with the factors influencing the score being analyzed in more detail. Generally, domains with a spam score of 50% or higher are considered at high risk of being flagged as spam.

However, on our site, we thoroughly review not only MOZ’s spam score but also a variety of other metrics and the domain’s operational history. Based on our extensive experience, if other indicators suggest a low risk of penalties, we may include domains with a spam score of up to 70% on our list. This ensures that the risk of receiving a penalty from Google is comparable to other domains selected by our site, and good performance can often be expected.

CF / TF / TR / BL / MIP / MRDL / MRDF (Majestic Metrics)

CF (Citation Flow)

CF stands for Citation Flow, a metric that represents the influence of a domain. It is primarily based on the number of links pointing to the site, and it is measured on a scale from 0 to 100. A higher CF indicates a stronger influence of the domain.

TF (Trust Flow)

TF stands for Trust Flow, a metric that indicates the quality of a domain’s links. The higher the proportion of links from highly trusted sites, the higher the TF value, which ranges from 0 to 100. A high TF signifies that the domain has a substantial number of reliable and trustworthy links.

TR (Trust Ratio)

TR is the ratio of TF to CF, indicating the overall quality of the domain’s link profile. Generally, a ratio of 0.5 or higher is considered good, with values closer to 1 indicating a better quality link profile. A ratio above 1 signifies an exceptionally high-quality link profile.

BL (Backlink Count)

This indicates the total number of backlinks pointing to the domain.

MIP (Majestic IP Popularity)

This represents the number of unique IP addresses linking to the domain. A higher number indicates a broader link profile.

MRDL (Majestic Referring Domains Live)

This indicates the number of referring domains that are currently live. This is an important metric for evaluating the reliability of the linking domains.

MRDF (Majestic Referring Domains Follow)

This represents the number of referring domains with “Follow” attributes. “Follow” links have a direct impact on SEO, making this a significant metric.

VTSP (VirusTotal Spam Check)

VTSP is a process that uses VirusTotal to check whether the domain is listed on any spam lists. This helps to eliminate domains that have been used for spam activities in the past. All expired domains listed on our site have been thoroughly vetted through VirusTotal, ensuring that data from over 50 vendors is completely clean (※at the time of listing).

WBAC (Wayback Machine Abuse Check)

WB Abuse Check is a process that uses the Wayback Machine to review the operational history of a domain and check for any past abuse. This involves screening against a proprietary list of negative keywords and detecting suspicious changes in site content to thoroughly eliminate any domains with a history of abuse.

SRAC (SEMRush Abuse Check)

SR Abuse Check uses SEMRush’s backlink information, anchor text details, and index information to check for any signs of past abuse of the domain. This process includes screening against a proprietary list of negative keywords and meticulously checking for any indications of past misuse based on extensive experience.

RD (Redirect Status)

Domains are checked for any history of 301 (permanent) and 302 (temporary) redirects.

30X redirects typically result in the transfer of SEO value (link juice) to the new URL, causing the original domain’s SEO power to decrease or be completely lost. This is supported by Google’s official stance and is widely accepted within the industry. Therefore, domains with a history of 30X redirects are excluded from this site.

Regarding 302 redirects, while they usually do not transfer SEO value to the new URL, if the redirect has been in place for an extended period (such as six months or more), it may be considered permanent. Since it is difficult to determine the exact duration of the redirect using tools like the Wayback Machine, 302 redirects are treated in the same way as 301 redirects.

GIndx (Google Index)

GIndx indicates whether the domain is indexed by Google and the number of indexed pages. However, please note that when a domain expires and the site is removed, the index often disappears as well, so consider this as a reference point. Additionally, during this evaluation process, we conduct a proprietary negative keyword analysis to check for spam and abuse related to the index information, and domains that match are excluded.

At our shop, we carefully select and offer only expired domains that are reliable and valuable based on these metrics. Please note that the metrics for each domain reflect the values at the time of listing.
